The New Year is Upon Us!

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot", ta da da, da da da dee. . . . . . . . . . . . .
2007 is almost over, and 2008 is just around the bend! I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and friends at Stamp Antonio Arts. 2007 has been a very trying year for us, but a good one! Having to say goodbye to our previous owners, and hello to new ones with new ideas and thoughts of how things should be, was stressful. But with the understanding and encouragement of our customers, we were able to come through it with flying colors.
Improvements in merchandising and design have brought about a New air and feeling when you step inside the doors of Stamp Antonio Arts in Castle Hills Market.
We have seen an abundance of new customers lately, who have found out about our store via the Internet, and have travelled sometimes from afar to see it in person. They have been pleasantly surprised, and have vowed to return at the next opportunity for another visit. If you haven't been in lately, "Isn't it time you came in to see us, too?"

We will be waiting with open arms to welcome you, and help make your shopping experience with us a truly pleasurable one! Our motto for the New Year;

"Create something GREAT in 2008!"

Let us show you how!

The New Hero Arts 2008 Stamps are Here!

The new Hero Arts stamps for 2008 have been in the store for just a few days, and already show signs of great popularity!

Stamp Antonio Arts is one of the few stores previewing and selling the new 2008 series, before the end of 2007. You must come in to see the new designs, they are so impressive. Along with the new series of stamps from Hero Arts, there are also their Valentine stamps, the New Clear Stamp Sets, and the New CardArt series, consisting of a collage stamp, two cards with two envelopes, and lots of bling, all for one low price! These new CardArt sets are so cute, and would really make a great beginner's gift along with an ink pad and a few colored markers. If you are looking for a gift for someone just starting out in stamping, this just might be what you are looking for.

We still have Gift Certificates available for that last minute stocking stuffer, and loads of other ideas for the Rubber Stamper, and Paper Artist in your family. So come on by, say Hi, and let us show you how we can make your Christmas a Happy One.

From all of us at Stamp Antonio Arts, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year! We hope to see you soon!

Inventory Marathon is Complete!

Hello Everyone,
The Inventory Marathon that has kept us all so busy for the last few weeks at the store, is finally over! Our new point of sale system is up and running, and our inventory is keyed in, to make your shopping experience pleasureable and unique!

It was a lot more work than we first thought, but we did come through with flying colors. Of course, we still have a little "tweaking" of the system to do, but everyday it gets easier and easier to complete business. We want to take this opportunity to Thank all of our customers for your patience during this last few weeks, our nerves were getting frazzled, but we hope you all understand, and forgive us!

We have so many New and Exciting items coming in to the store for holiday gift-giving! The new Somerset Studios magazines came in Wednesday, so if you need gift or card ideas, this is the place. Our Christmas stamps are flying "out the door", and it is getting down to the wire on placing orders to arrive before Christmas. With there only being three weeks until Christmas, most stamp companies have a two to three week turn-around time frame on delivery. If you have any special requests, please call the store, and we will see if there is anything we can do to help.

We still have a good supply of Stickles, and these are always needed for last minute Christmas decorating. Everything needs a little "bling" of Stickles for the holidays! We also have three weekends of classes and Make-n-Takes before the Christmas holidays. If you want to sign up, just call the store and pre-register, and check the class schedule on the website for a description of the classes we have available. The Soldering Class is already full, and has a waiting list, but Erin has assured us there will be another class on the New Schedule coming out after the first of the year!

I also wanted to remind everyone that we have Gift Certificates available for the holidays, and year round, also. If you have a special someone that loves Stamps and Papers and the such, and you just don't know what they would like or need, a Gift Certificate to Stamp Antonio Arts is always appreciated! They are available in any dollar amount, and even come in a delightfully decorated seasonal envelope, perfect for gift-giving or stocking-stuffing!

We hope to see you all soon! From all of us at Stamp Antonio Arts, Happy Holidays! and Best Wishes for a Happy and Prosperous 2008!

Happy Fall, Everyone!

Hey, Everybody!
I hope you have been enjoying the cool weather we have been having here in San Antonio for the last week. It has actually been pretty nice in the early mornings and the evenings after the sun goes down.
It has put me in the mood for some stamping and crafting, but I have still been very busy at Stamp Antonio getting ready for the launch of our new Point-of-Sale system. If you have been in the store lately, you have probably heard us talking about it! Everyone at the store is so excited that the completion is very near, and we should have it up and running by Monday of next week.
I also wanted to remind you of an exciting Rubber Stamp Tapestry Make-n-Take this Saturday, Nov. 1oth, from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM, featuring our friend, Susan Casto. She will be instructing us in creating a beautiful Christmas Card using two of the Rubber Stamp Tapestry Peg Sets that we just got in. Be sure to stop by, make a card, and why not do a little Pre-Christmas shopping while you are in the store.
I also have a few spots open, in my Christmas Star Book Class, Saturday, Nov. 10th from 2:30 until 4:30. If you are interested, please call the store and reserve a spot. The class fee is $25 for this class, and we will be making a wonderful book, full of beautiful stamped and embossed Christmas images, that when opened up, forms a lovely Christmas Star. Check our website www.stampantonio.com under classes, for pictures of what it looks like, plus a list of your basic supplies which should be brought to each class.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. If you haven't stopped by the store to see our lovely, fully decorated Thanksgiving Dinner Table, full of projects that you can make for YOUR table, please do so! We have had so many wonderful comments on it, and we even have project sheets available for each item on the table.

The employees and owners of Stamp Antonio Arts wish to take this opportunity to extend to you and your families and friends, a wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving!
Until we see you again, have a great day!

Beverly Seymour's Classes Cancelled

We were so sorry to have to cancel Beverly Seymour's classes this weekend, Nov. 2-4, 2007. When we got the notification that Beverly was sick, and couldn't make the trip, we were heartbroken and so looking forward to seeing her again.

We will try to reschedule these classes at a later date, when she is feeling better. Hope you are feeling better soon, Beverly!

I do hope everyone had a safe and silly Halloween! There wasn't much action at the store, I guess everyone had parties to attend. I did take a few pictures of the costumes that appeared at the door of Stamp Antonio, and will share them in a few days, along with the entrants of our Halloween Challenge Contest. Those that did enter, came up with some awesome entries, you could tell they thought long and hard on their project.

Our "You Be the Stamp Buyer" program is still going strong. This week's stamp company is Penny Black, and if you are a fan of Penny Black stamps, you still have through Saturday evening, November 3rd at 6:00 PM to get your order in.

Also, be sure to come by the store on Saturday, between 11:00 and 2:00 and see what Erin has been up to. She will be demonstrating some NEW product that we received for Beverly's class, plus a whole lot more! She will be showing some new techniques as well some New things to do with the products you have at home.

e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e

Christmas is just around the corner, and it's never too soon to start on Christmas projects and gifts!

Have a wonderful weekend, and spend some time in the Great Outdoors if you get the chance!

Hi, Everyone!

Last Saturday was World Card Making Day, and all of us at Stamp Antonio want to take this opportunity to Thank You! for making it a successful one. Although this is only the second year it was celebrated, and our First Year, It was a great success on the whole. It was a busy day for many of us; I had an Accordian Card Class in the morning, and helped with the Christmas Make-N-Takes in the afternoon.

Several of our "regulars" came in and dropped off multiple cards For the Troops! You can come by the store this week and see some of the ones we made, or drop off more if you have some extra's at home that you might want to donate! We will be packing them up, and sending them off next week.

Preparing for World Card Making Day, postponed many of my regular tasks, such as writing my Blog! I got way behind in informing everyone about our "You Be the Stamp Buyer" program. We are now on week #5, and the vendor for this week is : Stampington & Co.

Stampington carries many collections by stamp artists such as, Maureen Blackman, Christine Adolph, Lynne Perrella, and Sandra Evertson. If one of these is YOUR favorite, be sure to come by the store and place a Special Order this week, through October 14, 2007. We just require that you pay in advance for any you order, and we will place the order next Monday.

Before you know it, we will be telephoning you to let you know they have arrived! It's just as simple as that!

I hope you are all preparing for our Halloween Challenge! We have started accepting submissions as of this past Monday, so get your thinking caps on, and start CREATING! The deadline is right around the corner, and will be here in no time. For more information on the Halloween Challenge, check this blog, or stop by the store for a printed version. We have a good supply of Stickles, and glitter, along with color washes and embossing powders! Even more of the NEW Stampendous Fun Flock is ordered and On the Way!

Well, that is about all I can think of for now. I also wanted to thank those of you who voted on my "POLL" located on this blog. I hope you will continue to give me feedback, of anything you might want to see, or have me discuss on this blog in the future. I always appreciate hearing from each and everyone of you. So, until next time, Take care and KEEP STAMPING!

WHERE: Stamp Antonio Arts 2211 N.W. Military Hwy. ste.118
San Antonio, Texas 78213 (210) 342-6217 Saturday hours: 10:00-6:00

KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

We have several things planned for this Wonderful Day!

Morning Activities: Cards for Troops
We will have our Art Bar at the front of the store set up to make cards that will be sent overseas to men and women who serve our country in the military. Come lend your talents in card making to help us complete a variety of cards to send to them. Even in the remotest areas of the world, people enjoy sending and receiving cards. What a blessing for us to do such a small thing- to make handmade cards to pass on to our soldiers so they may have cards to send home to their families and friends. We will also have a donation jar available so we can raise enough money to send along postage stamps to help defer the cost of postage for the soldiers.
Mid-day Activities: FREE Demo using New Products!
Between 12:30 and 1:30 we will have a free demo on using the New Stamp-N-Stick black Palette stamp pad and the New Castaway Bleach pad. We will be using the Interference Pearl-Ex powders and the Castaway pad on dark card stock- a new technique you may have never seen before.
Afternoon Activities: MAKE-N-TAKES for the Holidays!
About 2:00 PM we will start make-n-takes on the sales floor of Christmas Holiday cards. We will have samples of many holiday themed cards that you may try your hand at. We will have a table set where you can stamp a Christmas card and take it home with you. You will discover how simple it can be to make your own Holiday cards, and we will be able to answer all of your questions on how different ones are made.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

We hope all out there can join us for this day of Fun and Friendship! We also have two regularly scheduled card classes going on in our classroom on this day. There are still openings available in
both classes, (see the class page on our web site for more information) so sign up for one or both of the classes for a full day of EXTREME Card Making!

You Be the Stamp Buyer!

Good Evening, Everyone!
This is just a short note to let you know that this week's "You Be the Stamp Buyer" Vendor is Hero Arts Stamps.(September 17- September 23,2007)

I am also happy to announce that there was an amazing turn-out this past week for the AMuse Artstamps catalog, and premier of our "You Be the Stamp Buyer" program. Book Nook

Here it is, everyone! Our Book Nook at Stamp Antonio! A roomy relaxing area where you can sit and rest, look at a magazine or book, or just collect your thoughts while contemplating your next stamping or paper art project. It is also where we are displaying our "You Be the Stamp Buyer" catalogs weekly by vendor. You may come in and sit, browse through the selected vendor catalog, and even write an order if you so choose. The vendor for the week of September 10 through September 16, 2007 is AMuse Artstamps.

It is also a great area to collect product while you are deciding what items you need for your next project. This past weekend we had a family come in, who were designing invitations for another family member's get-together. They asked our opinion on several colors and paper combinations, and we helped by showing them embossing effects, and paper tearing effects using different papers that we carry at the store. It was a great place, where we could stand around together and discuss various options, and see how the different techniques looked together. Also, since this area is right inside the front windows of the store, we could see how the effects would appear in natural daylight, which is important to some artists.

We are very pleased with how this area turned out, and our customers seem to be pleased also! Why not come in, and see for yourself?
We will be happy to show you around, and answer any questions you have. (And even give you our "two cents worth.")

Hope to see you soon!

Greetings, Everyone!

Hello, everyone!
We are always trying to come up with ways to make your shopping even more enjoyable at Stamp Antonio.
We spent our Labor Day holiday re-arranging the merchandise in the store, grouping it together so it is easier to find, and easier to shop . We have also added a new sitting area at the front of the store. This area may be used for your comfort, or the comfort of your guests while you are shopping.
It will also be used for our newest service, "You Be the Stamp Buyer!" Each week we will feature one of our many vendor's catalogs, starting with AMuse Stamps. You can come into the store any day during the week, and browse through their catalog, fill out an order form, and your order will be placed on the following Monday! We just require you to pay in advance for the stamps YOU order. There are no minimum quantities required, you may order as many as you like. Just remember, the order must be paid for the day you place the order. We will start our list with the Top 20 vendors we order from on a regular basis. I will publish this list as it becomes available to me, so you can make plans to visit and view the catalogs of your favorites.
We are still working out the details of our upcoming card challenges; The World Card Day Challenge, and the Halloween Card Contest! Stay tuned for information coming this next week!

If you require any further information on a topic covered in this blog, you may write to me at www.stampantonio.com or call the store during regular business hours Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. The phone number is (210)342-6217.

Until next time,
Mindy

P.S. The van pictured above, parked in front of our store one evening. The owner/artist, is a psychiatric nurse at a local hospital, and decorated his van with all types of fun and interesting items. I've heard of "Altered Art" before, but that was the largest piece of art I have seen in awhile!

September/October Newsletter is on the Web Site

Hi Everyone!
We have been very busy this past week, working on the next installment of the newsletter, and ordering new merchandise for the store.
Erin has started back to school, and I have been trying to help her at the store by writing up the Special Orders for September.

The Newsletter for September/October is on the web site, and the link to the descriptions is up, also. There are still some photos of the class samples that need to be added, but these should be taken care of by next week. We have also trimmed down our newsletter mailing list, quite a bit. If you don't receive your newsletter within a couple of weeks, be sure to add your name to the subscription list on the web site, or come by the store to update your information in our log, at the register. We are trying to conserve the forrest's by cutting back on paper usage. If you could help us by receiving yours via the Internet, we would appreciate it greatly. Plus, the postal increases lately have taken a big chunk out of our expenses.

There are several Events and Contests coming this Fall, and I will have more information on them in a future blog, so stay tuned. . . . . . . . .

Until then, have a GREAT Labor Day Weekend; And be safe out there!

Oriental Brush Painting Demo at Stamp Antonio!

Hello, one and all!
We had a wonderful Sunday afternoon demonstration at Stamp Antonio. Amy Fleming, owner of Stamp Antonio, gave a Oriental Brush Painting Demo in our classroom. This was a first for the store, and she gave us a very interesting history of the "Ancient Art form" and how she became interested in it years ago. We had a nice turnout, and everyone seemed to be interested in seeing and hearing about all of her supplies that she uses, including all of the different brushes, papers, inks, and stones.
Most of us in attendance, are paper artists in our own right, but were very excited to learn about a "new"art form; new to us, but one that has been around for many, many, decades.

Thank you, Amy, for introducing us to YOUR passion!
Posted by Picasa

More Brush Painting demo. . . . .

Amy showed us how she uses her brush painting supplies to make beautiful drawings and works of art. She is a very talented artist, and some of us who witnessed her demonstration are very interested in having her teach some classes at Stamp Antonio. She mentioned that she may start with a card class, where we could learn some basic brush strokes to decorate cards. We could then see if we were interested in continuing our study into the ancient art of Sumi-E'.

Even Amy's daughter, Zoe, (age 71/2) wrote her name for us in Chinese.
Well Done, ladies!

New Magazines that are selling like Hot cakes....

Hello Everyone!
We received the new issue of Somerset Home last week. It contains 160+ ideas to beautify your home, and seems to be very popular.

We also received more issues of the Somerset Studios' Artful Blogging Magazine. It contains visually inspiring Online journals, that not only contain tools to help you start your own individual blogs, but shows how some of our favorite artists, including Keri Smith, Nina Bagley, and Alicia Paulson include their art in their own blogs. This magazine has also been helpful to some of our class instructors, who were looking for new color schemes to include in their class projects.

It gets 5 stars ***** in my book. One you need in your collection, even if you aren't interested in blogging!
A BLOG by definition, is a Web Log, in other words, your online journal to do with what you please! It is a New art form that has taken off in a different direction, another way to express yourself visually.

Back by Popular Demand!

We have also received another shipment of the 12 x12 scrapbook page size clear stamp sets from Fancy Pants Designs; Bella Brush, and Pollen Dust.
These sets contain an average of 30-40 individual stamps that can be used singly or in combination with others, to decorate cards and beautiful scrapbook pages.
We also have the larger 6 x 6 clear acrylic block that you need to stamp these larger images and they are printed with grid lines to help you position the images just right, exactly where you want them on your page.
Posted by PicasaCome by the store to see what we have done with these stamps!

New Stamp Sets Have Arrived!

The new stamps from Character Construction have arrived at Stamp Antonio. These are clear acrylic stamps that when applied to a clear acrylic block, and inked, give you a beautiful impression to be included in your art work. I have purchased several of these sets, and plan to make a series of cards for a friend that loves birds. ( In the chair pack, there are tiny birds sitting on the arm of the twig chair.) Many of the smaller images in this one set, are a tag with a tiny egg, a lovely little bird sitting on a nest wearing a crown, and several word tags. As soon as I get a few made I will post them here, so you can see them.

There is also a set with a great big tree, that would look great in a Halloween design card or invitation. As you can see, we received quite a few sets, but as with other new items we have received in the past, they won't hang around long!

CLASSES with Mark Jetton of DEADBEAT DESIGN Stamps

Saturday, July 28, 2007

We had a wonderful time Saturday, with our visiting artist Mark Jetton, owner and creator of Deadbeat Design Stamps.

Mark taught two classes, using his TEXAS themed rubber stamps that are VERY popular at Stamp Antonio Arts. Class one was his Four Room Book, and the second class was a Star Book he adapted to resemble the Texas State symbol, the five pointed star!

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Star Book class, and we really had a good time talking with Mark and picking his brain on all things TEXAS.

On behalf of the customers, owners, management, and employees of Stamp Antonio Arts, we wish to thank you, Mark, for your excellent instruction.
We hope we can persuade you to come again soon, and teach more of
your wonderful classes.
We have many samples on display, of Mark's stamps, and cards he has made for us. We also have his class projects on display for you to see if you stop by the store.

Until next time,

Mindy

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful comments you have given me on my writing of this blog. If you haven't been in the store lately, I would LOVE to hear from those of you who visit with us via the Internet.

The purpose of this blog is to keep our out-of-town visitors, as well as our local visitors informed of new stock we have received at the store, and the "SPECIAL" happenings that may not always make the newsletter.

I will also try to share photos of the above mentioned happenings and new stock, as availble.

Please be sure to check the blog frequently, there may be hidden "coupons" or "discounts" entwined among the entries in blogs to come! So you will have to read carefully.

Again, please send in your comments, or ideas of things you would like to see included in this blog. Until next time,

All the best to you!

Demo Night with A Stamp in the Hand

Thursday evening we welcomed back Kat Okamoto and Joyce Hazen from A Stamp in the Hand stamp company. They were our Guest Artists, and held a demo and several interesting classes Thursday, July 26 and Friday, July 27th.

We had a full house, with first time stampers, and those of us who have visited with Joyce and Kat several times before. They try to visit us twice a year, whenever their busy schedule allows. They always bring a Trunk Show of all their NEW stamp designs, along with the "Old Standby's" that we have all grown to love.

At the FREE DEMO on Thursday evening, Kat and Joyce both showed in detail, their new release stamps, and how to use them. These two very talented women are very thorough in showing the experienced and novice stamper, how they too, can create beautiful "works of Art" with very little practice.

There will be more about these talented ladies, and some samples of their work in future blogs, so stay tuned!
