Have you tried ENCAUSTICS?

It's back, and in full force! Encaustic Art has been around for ages, and is an ancient form of preserving treasured memories and items in wax. There are many techniques in which dimensional objects and papers are collaged together on various substrates, but when you preserve it with a coating of beeswax, it becomes a true work of Art. It even smells natural and organic, too with a slightly sweet aroma.
For the past few weeks, we have been having several demos and classes introducing Encaustics through art, with artist Michelle Belto. The class numbers must be limited to small numbers, because of the amount of room needed and the air circulation needed when working with the melting wax. Our last class was sold out almost immediately, so Michelle has agreed to hold another class on February 15, 2009 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If you are interested in learning this ancient technique of preservation in art, be sure to give us a call at the store, 210-342-6217 during regular business hours, Monday through Saturday, to register your space.
We have added a wonderful line of colored pigment wax that is used in Encaustics along with some brushes and other supplies needed. For more information on the classes you can also check the Class Description page on the web site. This is a very interesting art form, I think you will enjoy learning about.
This week before Valentines Day, I wanted to let you know, we still have a nice assortment of Valentine stamps, inks, gift containers, and magazines to let your Valentine know they are special to you. We still have plenty of gift ideas for the children's school gifts along with card ideas and gift certificates for that someone "Special". If you are new to stamping, we also have a beginners class entitled the Basic's of Rubber Stamping 101 this coming Saturday, Valentines Day at 10:30 am.
Wouldn't that make a nice "gift" for someone you know that enjoys arts & crafts? Come on by and see us at Stamp Antonio Arts. We are also celebrating the month of February as "We Love Our Customers" month. With any purchase of $10 or more, you can fill out a registration form for a drawing at the end of the month. Grand Prize will be a big ol' basket of Stampin' Goodies from Stamp Antonio Arts. We hope to see you all soon!

Encaustics! I don't know of anyone who has seen the finished product who is not amazed or an artist who has used this exciting wax medium who has not been smitten.... me included!!!

I love it! I only 'discovered' it a year ago and love experimenting and watching how the style is changing.
