The big reveal...

Our Creative Challenge "Feather Your Nest" entries will be on display beginning this Friday - May 10th.  What creativity these artists have brought to our store.  You absolutely must see these creations!   The judges are going to have a hard time choosing the winner.  Remember that your vote counts too!  The "People's Choice" voting begins Friday, so stop by the store and cast your vote.  One vote/one entry per person please!

Speaking of birds, have you seen the owls from Darci's Heart and Home stamp line?  They have owls fishing, playing golf and more.  Father's Day is coming up and these would make great Father's Day cards.  Examples are up on the May boards to give you some great ideas.  Other May boards this month are from Inky Antics and Great Impressions.  Such wonderful ideas by these great stamp companies. Get over to the store before they are gone!

Happy stamping ya'll!

Hello friends of Stamp Antonio Arts!!!

We are so lucky to have a wonderful client base that we call friends. We’ve been so busy growing in our “new” home for the past few years, we have neglected our blog. We love keeping you informed about our classes, sales and events by e-mail, but for the most part, e-mail is a one-way communication.
As many of you know, we just celebrated our 20th anniversary!! Yippee!! To begin our next 20 years, we’ve put our heads together for new and exciting things to come.

First, we decided we need to reach you where you are. We understand that you can’t be here every day (we would love that!!), but we don’t want you to miss a thing here at S.A.A.!! So we decided to start up the ol’ blog-a-roonie, so we can be “together” even when you’re not here.

So what should you expect to see here? LOTS of fun!! We’ll let you know of new arrivals, upcoming classes, sales and specials. We’ll have challenges, contests and artsy chit-chat.

And pictures!! Of course, lots of pictures of new stamps, dies and paper…oh my!!

We are so excited about our new adventure and are pleased to have you along with us. Tell your friends about us and invite them to the party here! The more the merrier!

Slatwall waiting for Stamps!

"Where are my stamps?" said Slatwall impatiently.

"They're in boxes waiting to be moved over here," I said.

"Well, I'm tired of waiting .... I want everyone to come see us," Slatwall moaned. "And where's that carpet you keep talking about?"

I smiled and said, "It's coming today, Slatwall! And in just a few more days it will be SATURDAY... and you know what that means -- we'll be open!"

Days 3 & 4 of the move!

We're almost finished packing up - that's the good news! The not so good news is - the new space is still being remodeled so we're in a hold pattern until the weekend. The beautiful new carpet has been delivered and will be installed shortly so we can begin to unpack. The classrooms are being painted and finished out. So much activity going on - deliveries of product to the new location, meeting our new neighbors, waiting for the new sign and getting ready for AMuse*A*Palooza coming July 10th.

The Move - Day 2

We started at 10 today and worked straight through till 5. It was a LONG day. The retail space is completely packed and the classroom/storage/office is "in progress". Our sign was taken down today and here we are saying "bye-bye" until we see the new version at our new location!

The Move - Day 1

Loud music, lots of laughter and loads of boxes - that was the scene today, as Maureen, Linda, Jane, Von, Carol, Zoe and I packed up the store. I had all good intentions of posting photos for you, but of course in the rush to leave, I forgot my camera! I'll post photos tomorrow and you'll be amazed at what we did in one day. Tomorrow our sign will be taken down and updated before being moved to the new location. Wait till you see the new and improved sign, it's fun, just like the new location.

Mother's Day is just around the corner!

Greetings fellow Stamp Antonio bloggettes! My year started off well, had at least one posting a month, until March when it hit the preverbial brick wall! I fell one day and broke my arm. So, I have been nursing my first ever broken bone, a compound fracture no less in my left forearm for the last month and a half! That's why I haven't been blogging.

I have been missing out on some wonderful sounding occurances and classes at the store, but I hope you have been taking advantage of them in my stead. I heard that the Asian Art Fest this past weekend was terriffic, and there were so many things going on that it was hard to take them all in. I have also heard there are some great things happening for Mother's Day this coming weekend, so be sure to check them out!

Since I have been cooped up here at home for the last 6 weeks, I have been doing a lot of reading in my stash of Papercrafts magazines and books, trying to get some new ideas for cards, classes and projects. I can't wait to get this nasty cast off and get back to my crafting.

Well, I didn't want to drone on about my problems, but I did want to let you know that I was still around and kicking, and hopefully be back at work at Stamp Antonio real soon! So as I always say, "Keep on Stampin'!" And come see all the new product that has come in at the store!

Is Winter Ever Going to End?

I don;t know why I am anxious for winter to end, but I am! This has been the coldest winter we have experienced in Texas in quite a while. It has been wet, and cold, and even slushy a time or two, but all for the best so they say. The Texas wildflowers should be out in full force this spring! I guess that is what I am looking forward to. The bluebonnets, phlox, indian paintbrush, mexican hats, and firewheels all make my heart flutter.

Although the flowers aren't out lining the Texas highways and byways yet, you can start planning now to collect the best Texas bluebonnet rubber stamps available. We have been stocking up on all sorts of Texas themed stamps available through our friend Mark Jetton and his Deadbeat Designs Stamps. Many Winter Texans(those that travel down south for the winter who live up north in the snow and cold)who are preparing to head home for the season are stopping by to collect a few of our Texas stamps to add to their collection. The request has been made for more bluebonnet stamps, so I will place an order very soon for them.

We are also preparing for FIESTA 2010 with lots of mariachi men, margaritas, sombreros, and fun chile stamps also from Deadbeat Designs Stamps. Senor Pepper is a fun stamp that is in demand every year about Fiesta time in San Antonio.

If you enjoy the stamp images by Mark and Deadbeat Designs, check out our Deadbeat Friday classes that started this year. Every last Friday of the month from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm I teach a class using one or several of Deadbeat stamps we have in stock.
Last month we did a box of All Occassion Cards using the NEW Texas Collage stamp and colored them with Prismacolor colored pencils. Mark was kind enough to mention them and show a picture of them in his blog.(link in the right hand column of this blog)
For our March project, we will be making and decorating two (2) picture cube blocks to hold photos or cards or any of your stamping projects. The samples will be on display at the store very soon, so stop by next week and sign up for our Deadbeat Friday class and have a rootin' tootin' Texas good time with us!

I also want to make mention of a new blog linked to ours, welcome to InkyJane's blog. She is someone very near and dear to us here at Stamp Antonio Arts, and we hope you will check out her blog very soon.
Until next time, Keep on Stampin'!

I'm Back, fellow Blog Readers and Stampers!

Hello Everyone,
I am so happy to be back blogging with you about Stamp Antonio Arts, and all of the FUN things we have going on this year at the store!
I was having so many computer issues at the end of 2009 I wasn't able to keep up with all of the posts. Hopefully 2010 will be a better year!

Well, let's see, where to start? How about with our Hero Arts Club. We started this club January 2010 as a gathering of Hero Art Stamp enthusiasts who LOVE Hero Art stamps, and love getting together to stamp and share them with others. The popularity has been overwhelming! We have two meetings each month, either one that meets on a Thursday afternoon from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, OR an evening meeting that meets on the following day, Friday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. You may check our class calendar for the exact date and times each month, but please be sure to register early. Our classroom only accomodates 25 persons at a time, so our numbers are limited. Last month we had a waiting list, so try to sign up early. The meeting fee is only $5 to offset the cost of refreshments and some supplies. Hope to see you there!

We also have lots of NEW classes on the class calander for February. Be sure to come by the store to see the class samples, and sign up for a class or two. Carrie Avery is back teaching a series of classes every Friday during the month of February that are from the NEW Design Originals Book, entitled "Cards and Trinkets!" Many of the projects in this book were made by Carrie for this book and use Tim Holtz' line of Ideaology products, and his many Ranger products, too. Call or come by the store to sign up for one or all of these FUN classes.

We are also excited to announce that we are finalizing the details of the trunk show with Harlee Quinnz Designs Stamp company. They want to come offer some classes and bring a lot of their product to San Antonio near the end of the month. We have a small sampling of their stamps and clip art at the store, that seems to be popular with our younger stampers, as well as those of us who have been stamping for quite awhile. They have some really interesting designs!

February is also our "We Love our Customers" month. Every February we celebrate and thank our customers with a special drawing. The rules of the drawing are simple. You come in to Stamp Antonio Arts, spend $20 or more in merchandise, and in addition to your "stamp buck" you get a chance to enter the drawing that will be held at the end of February. I can't tell you what the prize will be, but I'm sure it will be a good one! You are eligible to enter EVERY DAY, if you see fit to come visit and " spend a little green" with us. We so love to see your smiling faces!

So, until next time, stay happy and Keep on Stampin"!

The New stamps from Hero Arts 2010 Catalog will be debuting this weekend at Stamp Antonio Arts. Friday evening from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm we will be unveiling the New Hero Arts Stamps with a Preview Party and Scavenger Hunt. There will also be refreshments and a Make-N-Take.
We are really looking forward to this debut, since Hero Arts is one of our favorite rubber stamp makers. Where Does the Time Go. . . . . . . . .

The next time you turn around it will be Christmas, and then a NEW Year! Where does the time go?
Things around Stamp Antonio Arts have really been poppin' , as they say! The GIANT Halloween pumpkin was 49 pounds, and I never got any of the pies they must have made from it.

There is NEW merchandise rolling in the front door daily, from new stamps from The Cat's Pajama's and Art Impressions to papers from Graphics 45 and Websters Pages. There are products for Thanksgiving, Haunnakah, and Christmas as well as Thank You's and Everyday items.

Geeta Suggs from AMuse Artstamps will be here teaching classes the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so make note of these NOW, so you don't forget to call and reserve a space.

In December, Sally Lynn MacDonald, will be here giving classes at Stamp Antonio Arts in how to use Copic Markers, Glimmer Mists and masks, and how to use all of the unique Ranger products to make wonderful gifts for the holidays.

In between, our own talented instructors are busy keeping the calendar full of wonderfully creative classes we hope you will try. Everything from cards and tags, to home decor and gifts, to make this a handmade "MADE WITH LOVE" Christmas!

Come on by to see all of the new items we have in stock, sign up for a class, or just to say "HI"! We will be anxiously awaiting to serve you.
Happy Holidays from Mindy and the Team at Stamp Antonio Arts!

No News is Good News, So they say. . . . . . .

Greetings to those who check our blog! I'm sorry for the lapse in postings, but I have been having trouble with my personal computer that I usually prepare the posts on. So, I guess no news IS good news! We are still here in beautiful Castle Hills, selling stamps and art supplies, having terriffic classes every week, and looking forward to seeing all our customers come in to the store to prepare for the upcoming Holidays!

We held a wonderful Book Signing with Rice Freeman-Zachery a few weeks ago. There was a tremendous turn out to hear her speak on Creativeness, and then sign copies of her new book,"Creative Time and Space." For those of you who were not able to attend, yet would still be interested in a copy of her book, we do have a few copies left at the store. I was to post photos taken at the event, but without my handy dandy laptop there was no way to get them here. As soon as I get them into the store computer, I will post them .

Lot's of holiday merchandise has begun arriving at the store. There is still some Halloween and Thanksgiving stamps and papers, and Christmas is starting to trickle in. The big shipments should begin any day now! The November Class Calendar should be up on the web page in a few days, so you can check out and sign up for all of the wonderful fall classes we have planned.

If you have any questions about the classes or just merchandise in general, give us a call at 210-342-6217. We are here Tuesday through Saturday 10:00am- 6:00 pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Wednesday evenings are our Artist Night Out from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and we are open during this time for your shopping convenience. We hope to see you all soon.

Fall is Finally Here!

Well, as close to fall as we get here in San Antonio! Happy Fall Everyone! The 100+ temperatures have drifted away, and left fairly cool afternoons and evenings, and quite pleasant morning temps for us to get out and be creative. I love getting up early, and sitting outside on my patio with my juice and coffee, and listening to the birds and critters as they begin their day in my neighborhood. I take this time on my days off, to contemplate the art projects I have in the back of my mind that I want to try, and plan out my day so I can achieve more. On the days I go in to Stamp Antonio, I take this time to collect my thoughts, and plan some small projects I can take to the store with me, in case I need to fill a little free time. Of course, we never know when to expect our shipments of new merchandise, so each day is like Christmas. . . . . . do we receive a box of goodies or not?

We have been receiving a lot of goodies lately! New issues of magazines, new rubber stamps, mostly Halloween and Day of the Dead. This year we also received some Jewish stamps for the High Holidays this month.

Last week we received a shipment from a New company to us, Canvas Corp. You may have seen ads in all of the latest mixed-media magazines from this company. They have all sorts of bases for all types of mixed-media art work, made from canvas. We got supplies for banners, placemat size hemmed canvas, muslin napkins about 14" square, along with small accent shaped canvas pieces to add dimension to your canvas project. I made a sample banner, with some journaling on it, along with embellishments of buttons, ribbons, beads, and metal. So much FUN!

WE were also notified that our order from Tweedy Jill in Florida should be on its way this week! Many of you took advantage of the wonderful Alice in Wonderland themed stamps, card kits, and clip art the ladies brought back from their vacation to Florida last month, where they met Jill and checked out her operation. They loaded up their SUV and brought a nice supply of product home from Florida, and all of the styles of card kits and stsamps they brought, including Song Birds, Roosters, Wild West, and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, (to go along with the Alice stuff) was scooped up almost immediately! We heard that a new release of the Alice in Wonderland story will be in movie theaters in March of 2010, so I guess everyone is getting into the Alice mood for then! I may have to go back and re-read the story from my childhood days. . . I don't remember too many of the details.

We also want to thank Geeta Suggs, for coming down to San Antonio and teaching a special Saturday of Halloween treat classes for us this month. These classes coinsided with the release of the new Amuse Artstamps Halloween stamps, and we have reordered stock due to the overwhelming turn-out of "Amuseholics". They really do love their Amuse Stamps!

We have more new and interesting classes coming in October and November! Keep your eyes open for the times and dates of these exciting classes and sign up soon! You won't want to be left out! And, until next time, Keep on Stampin'. . . . . we are always here to help you!

These CRAZY Computers! What did we do before them?

These crazy computers, seems they are always on the fritz! I have been having "computer issues" for the last month or so, so my postings have been few and far between. Even the computer access at the store has been slow and lifeless. What did we do before the computer came along?

Well, school is back in session and things are rolling along at Stamp Antonio Arts. We are receiving new merchandise on a regular basis, and having lots of new and fun classes. We are getting Halloween and Thanksgiving and some new Christmas stamps and papers. We also got a very nice display of products from Tweedy Jill Designs in Florida. The bosses visited with Jill while they were down in Florida on vacation, and brought back all kinds of new stamps, card making sets, and clip art. Unfortunately, we have almost sold out of most of it, but are expecting to order more to arrive in a few weeks. Alice in Wonderland, and the Mad Hatter's Tea Party are two of the lines that came with the assortment, and forseeing the arrival of the new "Alice" movie in early 2010 the product is flying off the shelves.

We have another great round of AMuse Artstamps for Halloween that just arrived, and have scheduled another full Saturday of classes with Geeta Suggs coming Saturday September12, 2009. If you are interested in these classes, please be sure to call and sign up right away, so Geeta can know how many students to plan for when she comes down from Austin. There is more information on our web page for the classes with Geeta, and all of our future classes.
Our web address is; www.stampantonio.com

We are still closed on Monday's, and will be celebrating Labor Day this coming Monday. We hope you will have a wonderful holiday, and come by and see us on Saturday or Tuesday to shop or just look around and see what is new and exciting at Stamp Antonio! Maybe you will find a class that interests you, or join one of our workshops that meet on a weekly basis. Any way, we hope to see you soon!

Hey Everyone,
I have been crazy busy, while the bosses have been out of the store on vacation. I have been so busy that I haven't had five minutes to update the blog, and I apologize for that! We have been busy building new displays at the store for our papers and our stamps, and planning for the NEW upcoming holiday displays that will be arriving shortly.

We have already started receiving Dia de los Muertos stamps, along with some fall type stamps and papers. Today, we put out the NEW Horse stamp line from Deadbeat Designs. Our friend, Mark, has been working day and night to get the new images to the store along with samples that are really spectacular. One sample he sent with the new horse images is so cute, we have been asked to do a class of it. This class will be in September, if we can work it into the schedule.

Another of our NEW displays in the store, is our " AS SEEN IN. . . . . . " area right inside the front door. This display will hold samples of projects seen in the newest of our favorite magazines! We also have a featured "paper of the week" where we have made samples showing you different ways to use our many types and styles of papers that we carry, from cardstock and scrapbook papers to handmade papers and parent sheets of paper.

Our classes this week are informative, Thursday, Marilyn Sanders is teaching a class on how to use Golden Products in your paper arts, from collage art to even cardmaking. She has a lot of new ideas to share with us using this medium. Saturday, is our Tea Bag book class with Valerie Lacayo. Valerie will be teaching a very simple book you bind yourself, and it is in the shape of a Tea Bag. Very cute, indeed! In the afternoon, Marilyn will return with an intermediate soldering class, so if you have learned the basics of soldering, and want to take it to the next level, come by and sign up for her class on Saturday! We have the samples for her class on our Class Board right as you come in the front door of the store. There are openings in each of these classes if you call right away and reserve your space. Otherwise you may miss out on these informative classes.

That's all I can think of to mention at this time. School will be starting soon for some, so get out of the house and come on down to Stamp Antonio Arts and try your hand at something NEW! You'll be glad you did! Hope to see you soon.
